20 Questions with Annie Jeong
If you've been visiting EricaWaddellClothing.com circa 2014, you've probably seen this face.
This is Annie. Annie isn't just a supermodel. She's also my super coworker, intern of two-plus summers, and a go-getter high school student. The first task I gave her was organizing a dressing room crammed with fabric. Since then, she's been what keeps me from being a complete mess by helping me around the shop, keeping all of the fabric inventory neat, and running frequent errands (including food runs for me and post office runs for you). And when I'm too tired to open the brick-and-mortar shop, she manages the sales floor for me. So the next time you stop in and notice I'm not the person behind the counter, say hello to Annie and ask her more about her answers to the 20 questions below!
How incredibly awful has it been working with me?
It isn't that awful.
Thanks for saying that. What's your favorite color?
Blue.
You'll be heading to college next year. Are you still thinking about studying fashion design?
No! Seriously, no, I want to go into the medical field right now.
Haha! What's making you lean that way right now (and please don't say "working with me")?
I like the classes I've been taking, but I change my mind regularly.
Okay, what's the outfit you wear when you want to dress up?
I have a peach silk top and flared pants.
Are you more of a skirt person or a pant person when you get dressed up?
It depends. I can go either way. It kind of depends on what I'm doing.
Last year, you took fashion at school. What was your favorite sewing project from class?
The pencil skirt. It was the most complicated thing we did, so it was nice to see it come together. I just remember the zipper...oh my god! I'm the type of person who wants to have everything lay just right, so I literally ripped out the zipper ten times.
Do you like to sew?
Yeah, I actually do. There's just something about being able to work with your hands and do it yourself and say, I did that.
You've picked up a lot since you've started working here. Do you feel like you've learned anything or just been able to apply what you've learned from school and elsewhere to working here?
Both. I’ve learned a lot.
How would you describe your ideal style? If you could wear whatever you wanted, what would be your look?
Edgy. I have a look in my head but it's hard to describe. Like ripped jeans, acid wash. But it's all about the shoes. It has to be heels. I like the way they feel, the way they sound. It's all about heels.
What's your favorite thing to do outdoors?
I like to go hiking.
What's your favorite thing to wear on the weekend in your current wardrobe?
If I'm at home, just a t-shirt. If I'm going out, then exercise clothes. Not frumpy - more fitted. I don't like sweats, more like workout clothes. Like leggings.
What do you think will be the biggest trend you'll see your friends in for back to school 2015?
That's a hard one. Honestly, probably really high shorts with a shirt over it and a flannel shirt tied around their waist. Oh, and the girls will be wearing boyfriend jeans rolled up.
What is one fashion trend that you wish would come back?
I wish people got dressed up. Like in the 50s and 60s when women would wear dresses that were appropriate. Like over the knee and more covered up.
Other than Golden Girls and One Tree Hill, what's the show you watch the most these days?
I've just started watching One Tree Hill again. I'm watching that right now. That's all I'm watching.
Moving on, scary movies or comedies?
I like comedies.
Most people reading this will recognize you from modeling a lot of my clothes. Do you like modeling? Note that if you say you don't like it, I'm still going to use you anyway as a model.
I do. I really do. I feel better about myself. At first, I didn't want to. But it's like doing something that at first I didn't want to do but now it's like, "I did it."
What are some of the bands most frequently in your playlist these days?
I don't really listen to music. When I do, it's normally Pandora tuned to 60s, 70s, and 80s mix.
Do you like to dance?
I do, but the way my friends and I dance is to dance bad on purpose.
What are you most looking forward to this year in school?
Honestly, graduating!
